Anyone remember Computer Chronicles? →
I loved this show on PBS when I was a teen really getting into computers. This is show was like precursor for TechTV. The show came up at a ACM student chapter meeting in a discussion about a computing-centric quiz show. It made think about the Computer Bowl with constestants like Bill Gates, Bill Joy, Andy Herzfeld, Walt Mossberg, Marc Andreesen and Seth Godin.
Computer Fungus
UCSB’s Rich Wolski, in a talk today at the Mardi Gras Conference on Distributed Applications, described what may be the first computer fungus. He was speaking about what hackers(crackers in some sense, but also just problem solvers in general) have to say about adaptive, autonomous grid programming.
